Eunice, in the
Acadia and St Landry parishes, is a part of the
Opelousas-Eunice Micropolitan Area, right smack
dab in the middle of Cajun Country. It is served
by State highways 13, 19, 190 and 3116, about an
hour from Alexandria or Lake Charles.
On Mardi Gras Day, which is always held the day
before Ash Wednesday, Eunice holds a traditional
Courir de Mardi Gras, which dates back from when
the town was first established in the late 19th
century. |

Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off,
where about 100 teams compete to see who
can cook the best crawfish etouffee
(smothered crawfish usually served with
rice). |
